YSR Housing Scheme has been introduced by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government for the residents of Andhra Pradesh. YSR Housing Scheme 2023

In the initial phase of the YSR Housing Scheme, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has acquired 68.361 acres of land valued at Rs 23,535 crores. This resulted in the construction of approximately 16 lakh houses, with each house costing Rs 1.8 lakh and a total expenditure of Rs 28,800 crore for the scheme. The second phase of the YSR housing scheme commenced on 25th December 2020, with a plan to build around 28.30 lakh houses within a span of 3 years. Out of these, 30,75,755 houses will be distributed to women beneficiaries across the state, and the construction of 15,60,000 houses will commence on the same date.

Facilities Available Under YSR Housing Scheme

The government is also providing essential facilities to each housing unit free of cost, including two tube lights, four bulbs, an overhead water storage tank, and two fans. Additionally, 20 tonnes of sand will be supplied for construction purposes. These colonies will have top-notch infrastructural facilities, including Anganwadi centers, libraries, parks, schools, markets, and more. Eligible individuals who wish to benefit from the YSR housing scheme can apply at the nearest village or ward secretariat. Upon application, beneficiaries will receive the scheme’s benefits within 90 days.

Eligibility Criteria Of Smart Town Scheme:

  1. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
  2. Individuals with an annual income ranging from 3 lakh to 18 lakh can apply under the scheme.
  3. Applicants having an annual income from 3 lakh to 6 lakh are eligible for a 150 square-yard plot.
  4. Those applicants who have an annual income from 6 lakh to 12 lakh are eligible for a 200 square yard plot.
  5. Applicants having an annual income from 12 lakh to 18 lakh are eligible for a 240 square yard plot.

Features of Smart Town Scheme:

  1. The scheme provides plots to middle-income group citizens and low-income group citizens of Andhra Pradesh who do not have their own house.
  2. Government employees can also apply for this scheme.
  3. The plot area provided ranges from 150 square yards to 240 square yards, based on the applicant’s annual income.
  4. To be eligible for the scheme, the applicant’s annual income should fall between 3 lakh to 18 lakhs.
  5. All the basic amenities will be provided under this scheme.
  6. The municipal corporation will be available within 5 kilometers of these town areas.
  7. In Ongole municipal corporation, areas like Koppolu, Mukthinuthalapadu, Mangamur, and Donka Road are included in the smart town list.
  8. A demand survey will be conducted to assess the market demand for smart towns.
  9. After the completion of the demand survey, the application procedure will start.
  10. Applicants from all over the state can apply under this scheme.

YSR Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme:

On 25th December 2020, the Government of Andhra Pradesh launched the YSR Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme. Under this scheme, houses will be allocated to the beneficiaries free of cost. Around 30.6 lakh beneficiaries have been identified across the state. Documents for free housing sites will be distributed to the beneficiaries for the litigation-free area. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy, has instructed the district collectors to complete the preparatory work and distribute the housing sites. However, there are stay orders issued by the High Court on certain sites, and the Chief Minister has also instructed officials to take steps to vacate the stay orders.

Flat Distribution under Pedalandariki Illu Housing:

There will be two phases of the Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme. The construction for the first phase is scheduled to begin on 25th December 2020 and is expected to continue until June 2022. The second phase of the YSR Pedalandariki Illu Housing Scheme will be carried out until June 2023. In the first phase, approximately 15.1 lakh houses will be constructed, and around 13 lakh houses will be constructed in the second phase. Each house’s construction cost will be Rs 1.80 lakh, and these houses will be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries. This scheme is expected to boost the state’s economy and create employment opportunities.

AP YSR EWS Housing Scheme 2023:

Chief Minister Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Housing Scheme 2021 on 12th July 2019 with the aim of providing houses to the poor people of the state who cannot afford to build their own houses, as per his promise made during the election campaign. This scheme is one of the major 9 promises made by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and is named after his father, YS Rajshekhara Reddy. Previously known as the NTR housing scheme, it was announced during the first State Budget by Finance Minister Mr. B. Rajendranath Reddy. The housing scheme is specifically targeted at the EWS/MIG/LIG category people of the state and encompasses YSR Economic Weaker Sections Housing Scheme, PMAY-YSR (Urban) scheme, and PMAY-YSR (Gramin) scheme.

YSR EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) Housing Scheme:

The YSR EWS Housing scheme is a state government initiative aimed at providing pucca houses to economically weaker sections of citizens in Andhra Pradesh. The state government has allocated Rs. 1280 crore for this purpose under the state budget.

YSR Urban Housing Scheme (PMAY):

The PMAY-YSR urban housing scheme is a joint initiative of the state and central government to provide pucca houses to the poor, middle-income, and lower-income groups in the urban areas of the state. The main objective is to develop the urban areas of the state before 2022. The central government of India has sanctioned Rs. 5000 crores, and the state government has allocated Rs. 1000 crores for the successful implementation of the scheme.

PMAY-YSR Gramin Housing Scheme:

The PMAY-YSR Gramin Housing scheme aims to develop the rural areas of the state. Both the state and central governments will work together for the development of rural areas.

YSR Jagananna Colonies Scheme:

On July 8th, 2020, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs launched the YSR Jagananna Colonies Scheme. The scheme aims to provide land and documents for house construction to beneficiaries. Financial support from banks is also part of the scheme. Approximately 60,000 beneficiaries have been identified, and 10,000 applications are under consideration.

Jagananna Colonies Plot Information:

The scheme is implemented in the Kadapa district’s Pulivendula town over an area of about 255 acres. Each beneficiary will receive 1 to 1.5 cents of land along with the necessary documents. The district administration has formed 754 layouts with 95,549 plots, with 10% of land reserved for community purposes like parks and playgrounds. Development of the land project will be carried out on a war footing basis.

Facilities Of Jagananna Colonies:

  1. Beneficiaries of the YSR Housing Scheme will be allocated houses in Jagananna colonies.
  2. The colonies will have amenities such as roads, electricity, and drinking water facilities.
  3. Social infrastructure like schools, Anganwadis, parks, village/ward secretariats, and village clinics will be present in the colonies.
  4. The colonies will have a pleasant atmosphere with innovative street lighting and proper road planning.
  5. The entrance of the colony will be built in an innovative way, and saplings will be planted in a specific pattern.
  6. Underground drainage facilities will be provided in the colonies.
  7. Half an acre of land near rythu Bharosa Kendra will be required for facilities like warehousing, cold storage, and collection centers. Identification of such land should be completed by 31st January 2021.
  8. 5 cents of land in the center of the village will be required for Janata Bazar.
